Anushka Shetty is a rising south Indian actress who has already made a mark of her own in both Tamil and Kannada
movies. She was born in Mumbai and she is a member of the famous bellipady family in Mangalore. She has got two
brothers, Dr. Sai Ramesh- a dentist and Gunaranjan a businessman. Although she speaks Tamil, English and Kannada,
her mother tongue is Tulu.Though she was born in Mumbai, she found herself shifted to Bangalore before she started
schooling and it was in Bangalore she completed her schooling and graduation.
She was a bright student at the school and also was one of the prettiest. After schooling, she joined BCA (Bachelor of
computer applications) and after graduating from a Bangalore college she spend some time. It was then she got hooked
with yoga and joined to practice yoga and later she became a yoga instructor.
She made her Tamil and Kannada movie debuts in the same year that is in the year 2005. Her first film was
‘Super’ with Nagarjuna. This film was directed by Puri Jagannadh who was very impressed with her
personality and contacted her through another director.Her performance in the Telungu film ‘Vikramarkudu’
won her much praise from critics all over the country.In year 2006 she played against R. Madhavan in a Tamil movie
called ‘Rendu’ and the movie did fairly well in the box office.
She also had movies like ‘Asthram’, ‘Lakshyam’ this year.Recently she was dropped out of a
Balakrishna movie due to some unknown reasons. And she is currently filming her new movie called ‘Don’
in Telugu.
Though she has played against several top actors in not so badly performed movies, she is still waiting for that one
blockbuster movie to come to her career. She never had a movie which can be called a huge success, something that
can remould and give a clear direction to any budding heroine’s career.
No one is particularly sure about her feeding habit and it still is a matter of controversy whether she is a vegetarian or
not. But most sources agree that she is a pure vegetarian and she is gifted with this amazing ability to make great foods.
